Men with Erectile Dysfunction Turning to Edex
Men suffering from sexual and erectile dysfunction(ED) are turning to Edex as the preferred mode of treatment. The treatment which comes in form of injection has increased the number of ED treatments available in the market.
According to statistics, the number of men affected by sexual and erectile dysfunction has been rising in the last decade. This is mainly blamed on poor nutrition, bad lifestyle (excessive smoking and talking alcohol, too much caffeine and nicotine), and also lack of exercises.
ED normally occurs when the amount of blood that is pumped to the penis/penile region is insufficient to maintain a strong and firm erection. This may be caused by weak blood veins and vessels, damaged nerves and tissues, psychological emotions such as stress and depression, emotions and much more.
Dealing with the situation entails introducing substances or drugs that will open up (widen) the blood vessels, relax the nerves, and also stimulate the brain for sexual desire. The most popular and effective treatments come in oral form(pills) and increase nitric oxide in the system leading to more blood being passed to the penis.
Some men however are unable to use the pills because they suffer from conditions that may react with the drugs for instance heart conditions, the drugs don’t work due to biological factors, or it causes many side effects. This has led to many men not fully enjoying their sexual desires and at times affecting their health.
Such men have found a solution to their ED problems in a treatment known as Edex which is an injectable option that is becoming quite popular. According to David B. Samadi, MD, Chief of Robotic Surgery and Chairman of Urology at Lenox Hill Hospital, the drug is quite effective and works in over 80% of men suffering from erectile dysfunction.
The main ingredient in Edex is Alprostadil, a substance that occurs naturally in the human body and has the role of vasolidating blood vessels as well as increasing the flow of blood to the penis leading to an erection. After injecting it, a user will experience an erection within 5 to 20 minutes and will last for roughly an hour.
The first injection is however given by a doctor with the aim of diagnosing the situation and coming up with the right dosage. This is important because patients will have different needs and it also helps to avoid an overdose. The intervals are also spaced evenly let’s say 3 times weekly and 24 hours apart. Also important is alternating the injections between the right and the left side of the penis.
